Christmas

We enjoyed a very low-key Christmas this year - even took a nice long nap! Engine patiently waited to open his gift from Mom&Dad Schaefer, while Eric jumped right into the traditional Lego stocking stuffer...
The baby got to play with the finished product:
We hope your Christmas was a good one, complete with family, friends, and joy - and our real Christmas present is yet to come...!

Nursery Prep!

We ordered these amazing vinyl wall decals from WeeGallery@Blik - great contrast and hand drawn animals.
The amazing glider, lots of storybooks (we've almost memorized the duck books already...), and Jess' Oscar Pumpin Zebra poster from '83.
Engine approves! The mobile is to go on the crib once it's finished ...
Crib re-assembly in process... we're almost there!

36weeks

Baby is at 5lbs 8oz at last check - almost ready to arrive!
Our last appointment was a long one - they wanted to do an extra ultrasound to check on the baby since Jess was measuring smaller than two weeks prior. Baby is growing just fine - long legs (no surprise there) - and head down, good to go!
We have our last level 2 ultrasound appointment on Wednesday (23rd) and our next weekly appointment on Christmas eve. The car seat is in the car, our hospital bag is packed, and we have a pediatrician all lined up...
we're ready when she is!

getting ready!

Our small group Christmas party doubled as a celebration time for baby inc - complete with prayers, songs, and gifts - including this amazing diaper tower made by our friend (and new mom) Lauren.
We've been doing so much prep work for the baby that Engine is plum tuckered out. Must be hard work checking out all the new things! We packed the bag for the hospital today and he went and sat inside of it...
Just four weeks to go!

Christmas at 75 degrees

We found Santa...

Babci and Djiadji are staying on Captiva Island (about 3 hours south of us) this winter, and they invited us down to visit. We very much enjoyed "chilling" in the Gulf of Mexico (the water temp at night was about 70 degrees), watching the sunsets, and spending time with Babci and Djiadji. We also went to a local wildlife refuge and saw lots of birds, crabs, and even a croc in the mangrove swamps.

Waiting for the sunset...

33 weeks!

Engine has been very interested in Jess' tummy lately... he even took a nap "hugging" it one night!

Grandma & Granddad Poling and Mom & Dad Schaefer got us this rocker, which Jess sat in and now will not vacate... it's wonderful! Engine didn't like playing stand-in however!

33 weeks - the weather is great, the crops are growing, and yet we're told it's December. January must be getting close!

Thanksgiving!

We arrived at Alaina and Elizabeth's to be wisked away to the guest bedroom. They were so excited to show us this - a great collection of gifts for the baby (and gummi worms for Jess, which Jess insists we mention - this craving is excused as pregnacy related but in relatity is not). Alaina and Elizabeth set up the little kiddo with some awesome and styling clothes and bibs (including "My Auntie is the Best" and "I'm a sloppy kisser" with a picture of dog.) Our kid is already way more fashionable than us! They also gave us the plush Tigger you see, which Engine thinks is a kitten and tried to carry about by the back of its neck - we had to put it on the top shelf...!
Eric thinks Tigger is for him, since he was denied the plush Eyeore from Aunt Megan. They are both quite cuddly...! (Tigger and Eyeore, that is, not Eric and Megan. Though they are nice for cuddling too.)
Eric at Alaina and Elizabeth's condo
The cats, entertaining us (thanks to a catnip filled scratch pad).
Alaina's homemade cheeseballs, which we devoured...er... enjoyed while waiting for dinner!
And no pictures of all of us, because, well the cats were so entertaining, we forgot. Suffice to say we had a wonderful time, way too much good food, and not enough time.
So much to be thankful for this year!

Nursery Prep!

We moved things around a bit... (this is the "storage space" and empty living room) and put the computers out in the living room.
Eric is working on painting the crib, which thanks to the very humid Florida weather, is a slow process.
Engine all worn out after watching us work.
Thought you'd enjoy a quick update - more to come!
