Jess and Eric on July 21st in 2007 and 2008.

Our first anniversary, celebrated just like last year, with Wendys, flowers, and each other.
Thanks for helping us make this first year a great one!

SuicideBomber Day

Ok so it was actually "capsule endoscopy" day
(and our first anniversary!)
but ... well, lets start at the beginning.
This is a test that allows the doctors to see the inside of the 23foot long small intestine through a pill shaped camera that transmits images to a computer worn around the waist. Capsule Endoscopy is a relatively new procedure (FDA approved in 2001). All it requires for prep is a bit of fasting...
At first Jess thought a diet of icepops and jolly ranchers
(excepting the red ones) wasn't too bad an idea.

By noon I changed my mind. Look how happy I am...
And yes, it's the bomber look. They warned us to stay away from banks and airports or "we'll have to bail you out of jail."
Tempting but I didn't want to start that fasting thing all over again.

This belt was not designed for me - the nurses had a hard time getting it this small.. and it's still big enough for two of me. Not to mention the business card sized leads stickied to my abdomin. The nurses compained that I didn't have "enough room" without the leads overlapping. They like fat people better. If they'd have let me eat... !!

Beware of the micro camera perusing my insides!

We got the results pretty quickly. Just like the rest of me: "normal."
/Sigh.

Last Day (Temp)

One last meeting before I start medical leave... this video actually really sucked, but the stuff it was talking about should be fantastic... I could tell you but I'd have to kill you.
I'm going on medical leave for one month to try to recover/get better/get walking. Couldn't do what I needed/wanted/felt like I should be able to do, and we realized my body was in dire need of some rest. So with the management team's blessing, I said my temporary goodbyes and gave a few last minute directives to my team.
(from left, Chris (aka Clark Kent), Kira, Bob, Mike, and my senior, Sharon)
They'll be working under another sup for now, but they're still my team.
Don't know what will happen when I'm back next month... no guarentee that I'll step back in as DCI or even in GeekSquad. That's the hardest part of taking this leave, but the necessity of "rest" has become rather obvious. We'll see what happens.

it's official...

After 9 months of leading the Nashua Geek Squad Precinct, Jess has earned the coveted badge...
It's embarassing how excited I (Jess) am. Eric made me post some pics so I'll stop showing him how cool this thing makes me....

A lot of work went into earning this badge, and I'm going to stay rediculously proud of it. I earned it!

Fireworks, finally!

Finally, a clear, cool night for fireworks in our neighboring town of Pelham, NH
Denise went with us and we saw a bunch of Jess' crew there -
Alex just received "most improved cadet" for his work with the Junior Police Academy. Jess caught a few shots of Alex in serious mode before he noticed she was there.
Jess enjoyed shooting the wireworks with her new camera - a free upgrade from her last one and quite a step up!
Hope you all had a relaxing and peaceful 4th.

Rain on the 4th

We had plans to hit up the local fireworks on the 4th of July, but the skys did not agree!
We tried anyway... but ended up running through the farmers market and heading back home...

We got quite wet on the short walk -- or run -- from the car to our apartment!
So instead, we had our friend Denise over, opened a new PS3 game, and had fun...
Meanwhile, Denise's dog Rosie took a nap on my meds... she's a licenced therapy dog and Jess nicknamed her "Brown Shoes," which has stuck. She always comes running straight to Jess when Denise brings her to visit.
